Sometimes people just need a helping hand. Often they don’t have the ability to ask for help, or don’t know how.

But one man is trying to change that with a simple selfless act, one yard at a time.

Blake Hawthorn runs a company called ‘It’s HIS Turf’, which he says handles all sorts of lawn care services, from mowing, landscaping and more.

The businesses typically didn’t offer yardwork services for free.

Hawthorn has said in his YouTube videos, that his faith guides him to help others in his community.

His path to his current viral fame began back in 2008 when he was in college. Needing to earn some money, he began doing yardwork.

Once he was done in college, he said, he started his own company.

Hawthorn, who said he is a Christian, wanted to find a way to help out his community. So he created his YouTube channel to showcase his company, as well as find people that might need help and not have anyone else to ask.

So as he worked and went around neighborhoods, Hawthorn said he prayed for a house to help. And then he saw one home that looked neglected and in need of some TLC.And when he couldn’t find a house to help, he prayed to find a property to transform. After asking around, he said he learned that the family was unable to take care of the yard themselves.

The wife was disabled, he said, and her husband worked to take care of her and their child, leaving little time to do anything else.

So Hawthorn and a friend from Fall River Lawn Care knocked on the family’s door and offered to help them, free of charge. Once the family accepted, the pair got to work.

Once he got the family’s approval, Blake and his friend Kevin started the work.

Hawthorn documented the work on his YouTube channel. The video quickly went viral with more than 2 million views.

The pair completely transformed the yard, clearing out weeds and cleaning off the pathway to the front door. They trimmed the trees and salvaged the bushes in the yard, removing any of the dead branches and plants.

Hawthorn and his crew then cleared all the trash and debris that had piled up in the yard and raked all the excess grass and trimmings up. 

They returned later to follow-up on the bushes, making sure to add landscape fabric to keep the weeds from returning. They finished up by putting new mulch down, as well.

Hawthorn’s YouTube site states:

We love what we do and who we do it for.”

And it’s clear from the amazing difference in the yard that they truly do love what they do.
