Two sisters have taken the art of copying one another to an entirely new level.
For more than 80 years, these women have shared more than just genes.
And now, their story is capturing them fans from all over the world, thanks in part to social media.
From the moment they were born, Anne and Susan were destined for greatness. Dressed alike by their mother since infancy, the tradition of twinning became a cherished part of their identity. “We just have always been very identical,” shared McQueen, now 84.
All through our childhood and adulthood, we have dressed alike.”
Their commitment to matching outfits goes beyond mere coincidence. Whenever one of them shops for new clothes, it’s a given—they buy two of everything. The result? A visual spectacle that never fails to turn heads when they stroll through town. McQueen notes, “They really react, and it just cheers people up when they see two people alike.”
But it’s not just about attracting attention in their home state of Utah. The sisters genuinely enjoy sharing the same taste in fashion. “It isn’t to attract attention, we just like the same clothes,” McQueen emphasized. Yet, in their shared love for identical outfits, there’s an undeniable element of fun and laughter. “When we get together, we just laugh and laugh and laugh,” Briggs added.
Their twinning adventures reached a new level when McQueen’s grandson-in-law, Mikey Metcalfe, introduced them to the world of TikTok. Under the moniker “The Grandmas,” their videos garnered millions of views, turning them into social media sensations. In a world often dominated by the young, Anne and Susan prove that age is no barrier to spreading joy.
Their Halloween escapade as the iconic Shining sisters from the 1980 horror film showcased their willingness to embrace the spotlight with a touch of creepiness.
Metcalfe humorously captioned one TikTok video, “POV: You married into the fam with the original Shining twins.”
“We love Halloween,” McQueen affirmed, reflecting the sisters’ adventurous spirit. Embracing the eerie costumes, they leaned into the creepiness, reciting the iconic lines, “Come and play with us.”
As retired health and physical education teachers, the twins injected a dose of fun into their classrooms every April Fools’ Day, leaving students in disbelief as they taught in identical outfits. Their mischievous pranks extended beyond the classroom, with the sisters confessing a love for confusing people.
Their bond extends far beyond the realm of fashion and pranks. The twins, both cat lovers and avid hikers, share a deep connection that transcends the physical. They speak of “twin telepathy,” claiming to often think and feel the same things.
“We have the same brain,” Briggs joked, highlighting the profound understanding that comes with a lifetime of shared experiences.
In a world facing challenges, the Grandmas see their newfound social media fame as an opportunity to spread happiness. “The world is in such a terrible situation, and this has been bringing a little happiness,” McQueen acknowledged.
Through their infectious laughter, coordinated outfits, and timeless bond, Anne McQueen and Susan Briggs are not just twinning; they are inspiring a global audience to embrace joy in the simplest ways.
