Having more than one pet can lead to a lifetime of fun, but sometimes in ways you never expect. 

For one pet owner, who shares videos of her pets on TikTok, it was important to document their interactions. And one day, when she couldn’t find her cat, she began filming. 

Melanie, whose last name has been withheld for privacy, was on the hunt for her cat Chippy, but after searching everywhere, she decided to seek help from her loyal Bernese Mountain Dog, Theodore. 

“Theodore, where’s Chippy?” Melanie asked her furry companion, who was lounging on his bed with an innocent expression that could rival a professional poker player.

Theodore looked like he was about to feign ignorance, avoiding eye contact with Melanie and pretending he didn’t know anything. But then, with a sudden movement, Theodore’s head popped up, revealing Chippy curled up underneath him the whole time!

It turns out that Theodore had been using his warm and cozy fur as a hiding spot for his feline brother. Chippy seemed quite content, enjoying a snooze in the dog’s embrace.

But Theodore wasn’t done yet. He wanted non-stop cuddles from Chippy, and he wasn’t about to let him go anytime soon. He showered the cat with licks and kisses, while Chippy looked a bit torn between annoyance and affection.

As Chippy tried to move away from Theodore, the dog’s paw gently blocked his escape. But Chippy wasn’t actually trapped. Melanie reassured viewers that Chippy wouldn’t allow himself to be cuddled if he didn’t enjoy it.

Melanie felt incredibly lucky and blessed to witness the unusual friendship between Theodore and Chippy. Dogs and cats don’t always get along, as they have different body languages. But Theodore’s unwavering love and protection for his feline buddy was truly heartwarming.

In a follow-up video just before Christmas, Melanie captured another precious moment between Theodore and Chippy. The caption read, “Another day, another cuddle? Attack?” as Chippy playfully swatted at Theodore while still enjoying some cuddles.

With more than 14 million views, Melanie’s videos showcasing the bond between Theodore and Chippy captured the hearts of many. Despite Chippy’s initial hiding antics, it was clear that he and Theodore had a unique and special relationship.

As Melanie reassured viewers, Chippy was not being forced into cuddles by Theodore. “Chip the cat was like hold my beer,” Melanie wrote, sharing a video of Chippy playfully engaging with Theodore in his own feline way, proving that he was still a cat with attitude and not easily squished.
