Even massive celebrities get worried sometimes. But thankfully, a popular YouTube show, “Recess Therapy”, knows just what to do.
They just so happen to have children ready to hand out sage advice to anyone who needs it. There most recent celeb? Rihanna, best known for her hits ‘Diamonds’ and ‘Umbrella’ stopped by for a visit with fan-favorite, 7-year-old Miles.
Miles kickstarted the interview by making sure Rihanna knew how much he liked her songs. “I obviously listen to your songs,” the little guy began. When she asked what his favorite was, he quickly responded, “Shine bright like a diamond,” making sure to let the singer know that Miles knew a lot “about gems and stones.”
The fast friends talked about everything from music to what Rihanna could do to feel more confident. The singer confided to Miles that sometimes she struggled with feeling good about herself. Rihanna asked Miles if he had any advice.
“Just being kind and brave,” he replied, letting her know that he “just thinks all the time” to help his confidence. Rihanna told Miles that she ‘thinks all the time’, and asked if Miles knew how she could stop doing that as much.
Just look at everything around you,” Miles said. “Cause then you’re barely thinking ’cause you’re looking.”
The show’s host, Julian Shapiro-Barnum, said that “Pretending (and) not letting people see you sweat can really help a lot” with confidence. Miles agreed, adding that it’s not usually better to lie. When Rihanna admitted to telling ‘little white lies’ before, Miles made her promise to do do it anymore.
In addition to the sage advice, Rihanna had to let the little kid know that she enjoyed his work, too. “I actually am a fan of yours, Miles,” she said.“I got a little bit excited about it and I started watching all your videos. You’re really funny.” To which the confident 7-year-old quipped, “I know.”
The singer and beauty mogul isn’t any stranger to giving advice to others, as well. Recently, she was caught in a viral moment when a young girl who was on the red carpet admitted that she’d like to be the next Rihanna.
But the singer quickly told her that she needed to look farther than her. “You got to be better than Rihanna. By the time you grow up, I’m going to be vintage. Antique,” she said. “Aim for the stars. Don’t aim for me. Aim beyond me. You’re going to be fantastic. I want you guys to always be greater, better, smarter, and change the world in ways that we couldn’t have.”
