Proposing to your loved one can be quite a challenge, especially when you want to make it special and unique. 

Edi Okoro faced a similar situation when he decided to propose to his girlfriend, Cally Read. He carried the ring around with him for months, waiting for the perfect moment.

“After a month or so of waiting for the right moment,” Edi wrote, “I was sitting on the sofa admiring ‘my precious’ (yes I became very attached to this ring by this point).” He said:

Cally almost caught me staring at the ring, and it hit me! … Cally doesn’t know I have the ring!! I should just start documenting these moments!”

He posted the pictures on Facebook, and they went viral. “You want to propose in a way that speaks to you as a person and couple. I couldn’t do this because ‘Edi doesn’t plan’… I’m a spontaneous improviser!” Edi wrote. He knew that if he planned something special, Cally would catch on to what he was going to do. So he took the ring with him everywhere and waited for the right moment to pop the question.

Edi started taking as many photos as he could of Cally and the ring without her noticing. He even left the ring in her jewelry plate for two days, and she still didn’t see it. He took the ring everywhere, and Cally just went on living her life, none-the-wiser to the giant scheme Edi was pulling off behind her back.

There are several photos where Cally is so close to the ring that one would want to yell at her to turn around. Edi was competing with himself in every photo, trying to get closer to her without giving himself away. The ones with Edi in them are the best, as his face is full of pure, unadulterated joy! You can just tell that he’s having the time of his life pulling this fast one on his future wife.

The couple met in athletics, and Edi knew Cally was the one after he realized that they could talk for hours without their conversation drying up. 

Edi eventually found the perfect moment to propose to Cally, and she said yes! In a follow-up Facebook post, he wrote, “So we did end up getting engaged, and no, I didn’t get caught… but that’s a story for another time.” It’s the perfect ending to a heartwarming story of love and creativity.

It just goes to show that sometimes the best proposals are the ones that are a little bit silly and unexpected. Edi’s spontaneous approach to proposing not only kept Cally guessing, but also produced a series of hilarious photos that captured the joy and excitement of their relationship.
