Little Boy Devastated After Losing His Favorite Toy – So He Comes Up With A Genius Way To Get It Back

It’s hard when you lose yourself.

Especially when you’re only 1-inch-tall and lost in a town of more than 11,000 people.

And you’re a tiny man named “Mini Jack” and made out of Legos.

When Jack Steel realized his Lego toy had fallen out of this backpack as he walked to school, he was devastated.

“It was quite a special Lego man because I made him,” said the 10-year-old.

Jack and his family had visited the Legoland Discovery Center in Manchester, England, over the summer, where he had built a Lego figure that looked like himself. He named it ‘Mini Jack’ and took the tiny figure with him wherever he went.

It did look quite a lot like me,” he said.

But when he arrived at school on Sept. 14th, he realized his backpack zipper wasn’t all the way closed and Mini Jack was nowhere to be found.

“I was really sad,” said Jack, who lives in Ulverston, a town of about 11,000 people in England. “I thought about how I could get it back.”

So he did what any smart boy would do – he made a missing person poster.

Using crayons, Jack created a detailed illustration of the Lego man. He labeled each part – even the eyebrows.

“Light brown (combover hairstyle) with matching eyebrows,” he wrote. “Hawaiian shirt (blue with palm trees) and an orange stripe on the bottom,” plus “dark green pants.”

“He is very special to me,” he added at the bottom of the missing poster.

At the top of the poster, he wrote: “Lost!!! Has anyone seen this Lego man?” The reward – about 2 British pounds, roughly $2.50 in U.S. dollars.

“I thought I had lost him forever,” Jack said.

Despite the poster, his mom said he was still sad.

“He was really upset,” said Lorna Walker.

It just made me feel sad.”

They hung up the poster on a pole near where Mini Jack had last been seen. They attempted to retrace Jack’s steps the day his toy went missing, but were unable to find him.

Walker shared the missing poster on Facebook, hoping that might help locate the figure.

“If anyone in Ulverston finds this Lego Man please pop me a message. Jack made it at the lego shop and lost it on the way to school this morning so he is absolutely gutted,” her post said.

While there was a ton of public support for the little boy, Walker was sure the toy was lost for good.

“I never in a million years thought it would be found because it was so tiny,” she said.

But, sometimes a bit of luck is all you need. A neighborhood girl found Mini Jack on her own walk to school. She had shown her mother, who just so happened to have seen Walker’s Facebook post.

They immediately messaged Walker to say they had the figure.

Walker was stunned.  “I didn’t think he’d ever get it back,” she said.

Jack was ecstatic.

“I was really happy,” he said. “I didn’t think I was going to find him, and then when all the people saw the poster, they wanted to help.”

As soon as Jack reunited with Mini Jack, “I put him in a little car that I got so he will be safe,” he said. “I want to make sure I don’t lose him again.”
