Flying alone can be a daunting experience, especially for a 10-year-old. But for Jazzy, a solo traveler, her potentially nerve-wracking flight turned into an unforgettable adventure, thanks to her seatmate, Samantha Purnell.

Adults often lack patience with kids on planes, especially those who aren’t their own. But Samantha was the complete opposite. Jazzy’s new friend turned what could have been a stressful flight into a delightful meet-cute, leading Samantha to call Jazzy a “seat buddy match made in heaven” in a TikTok she posted that quickly went viral.

Throughout the flight, the two watched “The Parent Trap,” played “Sephora” with Samantha’s makeup, and shared hard-boiled eggs that Jazzy’s mom had packed. According to Samantha, Jazzy “did not accept no for an answer” when it came to sharing the eggs. But it wasn’t just fun and games. When Jazzy expressed self-doubt by saying, “She’s gorgeous. I’m ugly,” Samantha immediately stepped in with some big sisterly advice. “Don’t you ever say that!”

You’re stunning. Don’t ever, ever, ever, ever say that to yourself,” Samantha firmly told her.

Comments flooded in on TikTok, with one user saying, “This is every little girl’s dream.” Another commented, “She will remember this forever!!! You gave her a massive confidence boost at a really important stage in her life!!” The story reached Jazzy’s family. Her aunt, Bree Cruz, expressed her gratitude in a comment: “This is my niece and HER mom and I are very grateful for you! Jazzy was nervous to fly and you truly helped her so much!! Thanks for being there and being such an angel!!”

The story didn’t end there. Samantha and Jazzy’s family arranged a surprise reunion nearly two months later, which was also shared on TikTok. “Today’s the day that we’re reuniting,” Samantha said. “It’s 6:40 in the morning and I’m on my way to pick her up. She thinks she’s going fishing with her dad, but in reality, I’m going to pick her up and we’re going to spend the entire day together, and she has no idea.”

When Jazzy realized who was waiting for her, she ran straight into Samantha’s arms, exclaiming, “I’m so happy!” through tears. Their reunion day was filled with fun, from a trip to Starbucks to posting on TikTok together, with Jazzy finally sharing her side of their new friendship.

“I felt really nervous. I started crying. I thought the plane was going to crash or something because the plane started shaking so much, and I said ‘Okay, I’m going to tell you my whole life story,’” Jazzy said. “And then, then we just started talking and then we became best friends,” she said.
