Comfort comes in all forms. But for some of us, the chance to be in the world of our favorite TV show brings the sort of nostalgia you can’t find anywhere else.
It can evoke the memories of childhood, family. Sitting around the TV, watching a program all together – must-see TV isn’t quite the same these days.
And for the price tag of $5.5 million, you could own a piece of that TV history with one of the most beloved homes from the 1970s: “The Brady Bunch” house!
Here’s a story of how this famous home came up for sale.
TV Network HGTV bought the home back in 2018, after a bidding war that included some famous names, including Lance Bass from boy band NSYNC. After winning the bid for $3.5 million (up from the original asking price of $1.85 million), the network launched a series with its famous construction hosts from the “Property Brothers.”
The house’s exterior was the only parts of the home to be used for the tv series. But HGTV, along with the six actors who played the Brady children, helped turn the inside of the home into their famous ‘family’ home.
This whole show is filled with so much love,” Maureen McCormick, who played Marcia, told reporters on the Today show.
HGTV spent more than $1.9 million on renovations. The largest improvement came when the “Property Brothers” Drew and Jonathan Scott added an entire second floor to the home, allowing for the added living space that the Brady family’s TV home took up.
According to its real-estate listing it’s a ‘once in a lifetime opportunity to own one of the most iconic single family residences in the world. Meticulously rebuilt and designed to replicate the set of the home from the beloved 1970s sitcom ‘The Brady Bunch.’ Reportedly it is the 2nd most photographed home in the USA after the White House. Own a piece of pop culture history and pay homage to American sitcom television.”
From the 70s classic green and orange kitchen, to the bright pink girl’s bedroom, and down to housekeeper Alice’s bedroom, there wasn’t a spot that didn’t get transformed into the Brady’s home.
The best part – HGTV is planning to put a portion of the proceeds from the home’s sale to Turn Up! Fight Hunger. A win-win for the lucky person who has a spare $5 million lying around.
