Driver Stops To Help Stray Puppy – And Six Unseen Creatures Leap From The Bushes

In Clarkston, Wash., on a particularly hot day, Sebastian Bushey, a 28-year-old construction worker, experienced something out of the ordinary on his way home from work. Near the Grande Ronde River, with temperatures hitting 105 degrees, Sebastian spotted something shocking on a day where the vulnerable should be indoors where it was cooler.

It was a puppy alone by the side of the road. But his discovery didn’t stop there. In a now-viral video, Sebastian can be heard asking, “What’s going on here? Come on, boys!” Six more puppies, all struggling in the heat and clearly abandoned, come running up to the clearly shocked man.

With the sun blazing down, Sebastian didn’t hesitate to help. He managed to record the rescue, capturing his efforts to gather the puppies, which he later shared on Facebook. The video, straightforward and unfiltered, showed Sebastian’s surprise and concern for the puppies. His shock leading to a bit of colorful language – “One, two, three, four…there’s f***ing 8 puppies out here. 100 degrees.”

The rescue video rapidly went viral,  resonating with viewers worldwide. It wasn’t just the act of saving the puppies that caught people’s attention; it was Sebastian’s genuine reaction and immediate action to help the puppies. The clip racked up more than 2.8 million views and 50,000 shares, bringing in messages of support from as far away as Australia and Germany.

There’s not anyone around for miles so they were obviously dumped by somebody,” Sebastian said in his video.

The puppy rescuer made sure to acknowledge in another Facebook post exactly what he thought of someone who would dump animals. And, while his feelings are accurate, they are not repeatable. However, viewers of his video couldn’t agree more that whomever likely dumped the puppies deserved to be arrested.

Sebastian didn’t just stop by taking the animals to a local shelter, he wanted to make sure the shelter would have help finding homes for thep puppies. “My buddy showed me how to put a donate button on there,” he said. “So I clicked Lewis-Clark Animal Shelter because that’s where I dropped them off.”

He has raised more than $1,500 for the shelter, but Sebastian doesn’t want any praise for what he did. He said anyone else would have done the same thing. “Doesn’t take too long out of your day to do something nice. If you’re put in the right position, then you should do the right thing.”

All of the puppies received medical care and recovered from being out in the heat. One of the lucky pups was adopted by a friend of Sebastian’s. The other six were expected to find homes quickly, he said. Thanks to Sebastian, they have a bright future and his simple kindness is a reminder that we all should take a moment when we can, and help those that need it the most.
