Recently, Aaron Gouveia, a father of three and avid TikToker, captured a heartwarming moment when his nine-year-old son, Sam, gave him a gift that he had made all by himself.
And Sam’s reaction, along with his dad’s response to the gift, is melting hearts all over the internet.
In a TikTok video shared by Aaron recently, Sam is seen walking into his parents’ bedroom, holding a long-sleeve, button-down floral blue shirt in his hands. When Aaron asks if he made it, Sam proudly responds, “I got a shirt that I made at sewing class. I did the buttons and I did the buttonholes. I got some help but I did most of it by myself.”

Aaron tries on the shirt, and it’s a perfect fit. He looks over the small details, saying, “Yeah! Look at this. The collar is so unique.” The camera then turns to Sam, whose sweet face is glowing with joy. Aaron gives Sam the phone so he can show him the back of his new shit, which features a box pleat. Sam says that he doesn’t know what it is, but it was “hard” to craft. Aaron asks Sam if he can wear his new shirt out to dinner, to which Sam eagerly agrees.

In an interview with TODAY.com, Aaron reveals that Sam is a neurodivergent child who recently started taking after-school sewing classes. “He’s an old soul. He’s always connected way more with adults than he does with kids,” Aaron said. Sam is often teased at school because his peers don’t understand his interests. But when Aaron showed Sam the comments on TikTok praising his sewing skills, Sam lit up with joy.

The heartwarming video of Sam’s gift to his dad has quickly gone viral, garnering over 12 million views in just a couple of days. Viewers have been touched by Sam’s talent and sweet nature, leaving comments expressing their admiration and support.
“I have a degree in fashion design. That there is raw, natural talent. That kid is going places if he pursues sewing!” wrote one commenter. Another said, “THE WAY HE WAS STANDING THERE SMILING. I cannot. He is precious.”
