Weddings often take tons of planning. From who to invite, where to have the wedding and what food to serve – it can be a huge undertaking. Even the music has to be perfect.
After one soon-to-be bride learned that her favorite singer would be touring, there was no doubt in her mind what songs she wanted to hear, and where she wanted to have her wedding.
She chose a Taylor Swift concert.
The pop star was kicking off her Eras Tour in Glendale, Ariz., and René Hurtado knew that was the event she needed to make her wedding perfect.
Hurtado and her fiance, Max Bochman, have always shared a connection to Swift’s music, the couple said.
Any Swiftie would recognize the need for and desire to include Taylor Swift in your marriage. She has the most beautiful love songs to dedicate to your spouse. She is the soundtrack to my life and is very important to me.”
They told reporters that they considered the music a big part of their relationship. Getting married at the concert, Hurtado said, was an important, and fun, way to start out their life together.
The couple said it all started when they got engaged in September 2021. Hurtado told friends she planned on eloping when she and Bochman were away for Swift’s tour. But then a friend suggested marrying at a Swift concert, and the idea took hold for the couple.
“I thought that was a good idea,” Hurtado told Today reporters. “I felt like, why not?”
But first, she had to get Bochman to agree to the idea. Bochman, not a big fan of public attention, was a bit hard to convince at first. After a month of trying to figure out another way to elope, Hurtado got the answer she’d been hoping for.
After suggesting another idea, she said he shocked her by saying, “’No, let’s do the Taylor Swift concert.’”
The first concert, Hurtado said, she used to find out the set list. After each song, she would write it down, waiting for the perfect one. Finally, ‘Invisible String’ came on, and she knew she had it. The song, which is based on Asian mythology, is about two people whose fate is tied together by a red thread, destined always to be together regardless of what life throws their way.
The second concert was the big moment. Only a few close friends knew what the couple was planning. Her maid of honor was ordained so she could perform the ceremony.
When ‘Invisible String’ began play, the couple was front row and ready to wed. The bride in white and the groom was dressed in a tux.
Rene’s maid of honor had been ordained so she could officiate at the wedding, which was carried out during the song.

The crowd, realizing what was happening, sat down, which allowed the couple to be the only one’s standing. When they kissed, the people around them cheered. Hurtado said in a TikTok video, that a member of Swift’s crew gave them a guitar pick. But the biggest gift the couple received: The singer gave the now-viral video a like.
She is definitely my entire life,” Hurtado said.
The couple plan to have another wedding next year, so friends and family can attend.
“We wanted to get married ahead of our wedding and we definitely figured this would be a more fun way to do it than a courthouse,” Hurtado said.
