Boy Makes Moving Gesture for Autistic Brother – His Response Has The Family Cheering

Brotherly love is something that can transcend even the hardest of times. When one is struggling, sometimes only your sibling can find a way through.

For one 7-year-old, he had spent so much time watching as his younger brother struggled with autism, that it was just natural for him to want to do something special for him.

In this case, it came in the form of a special song at his school’s talent show. But little did the boy know, that in addition to helping his brother, it would make him a star in so many others’ eyes.

Cairo Koomson and his 6-year-old brother, Eli, are both huge fans of the new movie, “Super Mario Bros”. But it’s a special song toward the end of the movie that meant so much to the pair.

The song “Peaches”, which is sung by the character Bowser (played by Jack Black) to his lady love, Princess Peach. It is Eli’s favorite song. And it managed to do something for the young boy who is unable to say more than three to four words at a time. It helped him find his voice and sing.

Days prior to the talent show, the boys’ mother, Tracy, said that the family was playing the movie’s soundtrack when the song came on. Suddenly, Eli began singing.

My 3-year-old daughter looked at me and Cairo looked at me and we were all like, ‘What is going on? Is this really happening?’” Tracy said, adding that she began to sob.

“Of course when I tried to get Eli to do it again so I could tape it, he wouldn’t,” she said, laughing.

The moment stuck with Cairo, who told his mom that he was going to ‘be Eli’s voice’ at his school’s talent show.

“He was like, ‘Mom, I’m going to sing for Eli,” Tracy said. “Cairo is very mature, and he’s also self-sacrificing. A lot of the attention goes to Eli because he’s special needs, but Cairo never complains. He absolutely adores his brother.”

The TikTok video shows Cairo sitting at a piano and singing ‘Peaches’ to a filled room. Something about the heartfelt singing moved the audience, who began to wave their arms over their head and sing along.

Cairo, who was dressed in a bright yellow Bowser costume, finished the song and all his classmates began applauding.

But, Tracy told Today reporters, that she only had eyes on Eli. The young boy was crying after the song was over.

For Eli to show emotion was a big deal. I can count on one hand where he’s appropriately cried,” she said.

Tracy says Cairo has tons of plans for his future, including a YouTube channel where he wants to travel and show the world through a kid’s eyes. “He’s a big dreamer,” she said.

The viral video made sure that the little crooner has a ton of fans rooting for his future.

“I’m sobbing! He’s so talented, I love this,” wrote one person.

Said another, “As a teacher, the purity of this would make me cry.”

Chris Pratt, who voiced the title character, Mario, even shared Cairo’s video on his Instagram story.” He tagged Jack Black and was like, ‘This guy might steal your job,’ or something like that,” Tracy said.
