A true best friend is your ride-or-die. Your person who remembers the most embarrassing thing that happened to you AND keeps it secret. You share everything. In the case of these two besties, Lauren Hamilton and Madison Walters – they took sharing to a whole new level. And it all began with two bottles of wine, each with almost identical messages.
The pair have been friends for a few years now, but hadn’t had a chance to get together in a while. Madison and her husband, Will, were sitting with Lauren and her husband, Patrick, at the dinner table. It was all part of Lauren’s plan. She had just found out that she was pregnant and knew she had to tie it into the friends’ love of wine nights.
So Lauren handed a wine bottle that was inscribed with “Welcome to the cool aunt club,” and immediately Madison began smiling. But instead of saying congratulations, she walked over to her bag, and pulled out a wine bottle with an identical message. Both besties knew immediately that they were going to share together the biggest moment in their lives – they were both pregnant.
“I didn’t even know how to react,” Madison said. “I was like, ‘What? This is just so crazy.’ Obviously, we were so excited to tell each other personally, but being able to experience that together was the ultimate surprise.” Lauren was equally shocked and thrilled. “It was just excitement, knowing that we were going to go through every step together and realizing we were probably very close in timeline was the biggest gift in the world,” she said.
We’re just so lucky to have each other and be able to check in and say, ‘Is this normal?'”
The North Carolina residents had been talking prior to this, hoping that they could coordinate their pregnancies. But knowing how hard getting pregnant could be, they decided to leave things up to fate. “It honestly ended up working out that our timelines happened to align without us even knowing,” Lauren said. “We just got really, really lucky and it was so exciting.”
“(Our husbands) did not know before that night that the other one was pregnant,” Madison said. “But there had been a time where Patrick noticed I wasn’t drinking one night and he clocked that, but they had not spoken to each other about it beforehand.” Like all good stories, this was filmed and added to TikTok. It has more than 5 million views. Since then, the friends have decided to use TikTok to help document their pregnancy journey together.
“We’ve been having a lot of fun with it,” Madison said. “It’s been fun reading all the comments and hearing from other people who are either in a similar stage of life or have been following our journey.”
“Besides that, if I’ve ever had any minor scares or fears or thoughts, our group message is just ever flowing with positive encouragement and sanity checks, which is super useful too,” Lauren added. On the night that they revealed their pregnancies to one another, they also compared due dates.
“We both saw Dec. 10 as our due date,” Lauren said. “So we literally had the same exact due date.” “Now my due date is Dec. 8 and Lauren’s is Dec. 10, just two days apart,” Madison added. “We really are living the dream and we definitely don’t take it for granted. This is so, so lucky.”
