When television and film star Jennifer Garner went viral, most people thought she was just being silly with her cat, Moose. But as the video spread across the internet, it turns out a vet agreed.
Apparently, giving your cat a tour of places they never visit is a good thing. In the video, the 13 Going on 30 star gave Moose a tour of all the “places he’s never seen before” in the house.
“Moose asked for a tour. 🤷🏻♀️,” she wrote on the video. She said the idea was inspired by another account where a couple took their dog on a tour of their house.
As the house tour started, Garner and Moose’s first location was the kitchen, where the curious kitty got a chance to look inside the refrigerator. Next, he went “inside of the microwave,” before the silly duo headed out to the rest of the house.
Not surprisingly, Moose’s seemingly favorite spot was the fish tank, where he stared as the fishes darted around. Moose’s final stop on his ‘homecation’ was Garner’s bedroom. But more importantly, it was the bed the cat was there to see. He promptly got his claw stuck in the blanket.
As commenters pointed out, it’s highly likely the cat has made himself at home in her room before this. “I don’t know how to tell you this, but Moose has definitely been on your bed when you weren’t looking.”
What cat doesn’t think that they own their human’s bed?,” said another commenter.
Besides being a cute video idea, the vet posted a video explaining why this simple activity can help enrich your cat’s life. Dr. Lynn Bahr said that for cats to be happy and enjoy life, it’s as simple as showing them places they haven’t visited before.
@deziroo Replying to @Castlilone adding enrichment to your cats daily routine will encourage activity and keep things interesting for them, regardless of their age. try a bunch of things new things and figure out what your cat likes 🫶🏼 #catenrichmemt #catwellness #seniorcats #felinefriends #catlovers #thecatdoc #catsoftiktok ♬ original sound – dezi & roo
Bahr said a good indication that your cat is bored is if they are just staring at you they might want a bit of activity. Simple ideas, she said, would be to open a closet door and let them explore. Putting a sheet over a chair would create a tent where they could hide in, as well. Or, another favorite activity – leaving papers on the floor for them to sit on.
So, as Garner did, go pick up your cat and maybe see what they think about the inside of your microwave. Watch below for a look at this hilarious video and Moose’s reaction to his home.
